A382 Corridor Improvements Consultation

by admin on 2 March, 2015

The proposed improvements for the link road between Newton Abbot and the A38 include widening and realignment of the existing road and a new connection to West Golds Way. The idea is that more traffic will be able to use the A382 as a consequence, and take at least some traffic away from the Churchill’s roundabout. The scheme also includes a new pedestrian and cycleway along the A382 and Old Exeter Road, a Park and Ride site ( something I have wanted to see for an age!) and improvements to the Old Exeter Road Causeway.
The consultation will run from today (March 2nd) to 10th April with exhibitions on 11th March 14.00 to 20.00 at Heathfield Community Centre and 12th and 14th March ( same times) at Newton Abbot Library. More information is available at: www.devon.gov.uk/a382-corridor. Comments can be sent by email: transportplanning-mailbox@devon.gov.uk, by phone 0345 155 1015 or write to Transport Planning, AB2 Lucombe House, County Hall. EXETER. EX2 4QD

This is a significant infra structure proposal and will make a significant impact on Newton Abbot. It would be good to think the planners get it right, but here is an opportunity to get your ideas across. All we need to see now is the re opening of the Heathfield/Newton branch rail line and communications may well be set to improve significantly!
