Welcome Visit. Improvements to Follow?

by admin on 28 August, 2016

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of taking the newly appointed County Officer i/c Highways for South Devon ( Teignbridge/South Hams/West Devon and Torridge) around my Newton Abbot South ward, to show him some of the very real problems we have. I am particularly grateful to him for the time given. I am optimistic that the visit may produce some benefits for the area, as he now understands first hand at least some of the frustrations we all experience.
I was able to show him issues relating to Wolborough High Street; to Coach Road; to Decoy and parking problems; to Penn Inn; to Moorland View and other Buckland roads, but it was particularly beneficial (I hope) for him to witness first hand problems at either end of Aller Brake Road and in particular speeding traffic on the St Marychurch Road and law breaking at the Aller Brake junction, where obligingly, a driver demonstrated for us to see the misuse of the junction, as he turned right out of Aller Brake Road, against the signage, which is clearly in place. I say again, the junctions at either end of Aller Brake Road are badly designed and safety has IMO been compromised for cost savings. watch this space!!
