I am asked as a local County Councillor for my views on traffic orders for the SDH.
I share them so that you can let me know if you have thoughts which you would like relayed to the officers.
It is proposed to make the following restrictions permanent….
50 mph speed limit along the South Devon Highway.
40 mph speed limit on Kingskerswell Road (Decoy Industrial Estate Link Road)
Clearway ( no stopping at any time) on SDH.
Prohibition of right turn into St Marychurch Road from Aller Brake Road
Prohibition of left turn into Aller Brake Road from St Marychurch Road.
Prohibition of entry into Aller Junction southbound off slip from Aller Roundabout
Prohibition of entry into Aller Junction northbound off sloip from Langford Roundabout.
Any one wanting to see the plans for these statements can let me know and I will forward them
My instant comment is that it’s all very well making the prohibition orders for the Aller Brake Road/St Marychurch Road junction, but as no one seems to be prepared to ever enforce them, what is the point? The restrictions are currently being ignored by far too many far too often. If the police can’t enforce, don’t have restrictions. That said, IMO they must be enforced!
