I submitted a question today to be answered at the next Devon County Council meeting.
It went something like this….
” A vehicle in Newton Abbot has received 19 parking tickets between November and the early part of January. It may well be considerably more by now. Not one of those tickets, for illegal parking, has been paid. The County have taken no action, and I want to know why.
However, it is worse than that. This vehicle appears to be in regular use, but I am reliably informed is not taxed, which probably means it is not insured. I have asked if the County have contacted the police. No answer, but I will get one. Surely a vehicle such as this should be removed from the highway? Surely Devon CC should work with the police to ensure such vehicles and such drivers, are removed from our roads for everyones safety. Parking is difficult in Newton at many times of the day and night. Here is one vehicle taking a parking space to which it is not entitled, and I want to see the owner punished and the vehicle taken off the road.” Those aren’t the exact words; to be honest I can’t recall the exact words used, but what do we pay Enforcement Officers for if not to enforce? I’m not letting this one go. Answers, and even more important, action required.
