Care Worker Shortage

by admin on 18 October, 2018

Devon County Council is putting out a plea for people to consider becoming Domiciliary or Care Workers and let me place on record, before saying anything else, that I have the greatest respect for Care Workers, having seen them in action first hand with both my mum and dad in the last years of their respective lives. Just brilliant!
So I strongly support them and the work they do; it’s vital vital work.
However, it’s a bit ripe for Devon CC to now be appealing for people to come forward and offer their services as Care Workers. Perhaps if they paid them a reasonable wage and if the conditions of service were remotely acceptable we wouldn’t now be experiencing this shortage of Care Workers. Devon needs to look at itself !!

I wonder if anyone in the Conservative Party ever puts two and two together and works out that maybe their attitude towards those they employ has a bearing on the way those people act and react to circumstances? Could declining numbers of Care Workers have anything to do with the Brexit situation? People feeling unwanted? Going home to their homelands and leaving the NHS and equivalent vital services? However, if you would like to know more about this career go to www.proudtocaredevon.org.uk I am sure you will be made very welcome; your services and care are desperately needed right now!
