I was pleased with both the turnout and outcome of yesterdays meeting at the Buckland Community Centre, and pay a warm and genuine thank you to all those who made it possible. Sgt John Dingle, Rosemary Whitbread from the Buckland Surgery; Becca Hewett TDC anti-social behaviour officer and the NHW Coordinator Cllr. Mike Joyce. Without these, the evening would not have been a success and I thank them and also Emily Farrell who “went the extra mile” in not only making us all welcome and coordinating room bookings, but laid on tea/coffee and biscuits, so very many thanks to Emily.
The meeting decided that it was certainly worthwhile to continue to explore both options of a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and also the Good Neighbour Scheme, perhaps the later in conjunction with the local surgery. The next meeting to take plans forward has been arranged for Tuesday 15th January, 7 pm at the Community Centre, when the Christmas and New Year festivities are well and truly behind us. Please book this date, irrespective of your attendance last night. All will be welcome. It was particularly pleasing to have volunteers coming forward last night to engage as local NHW activists/ coordinators and also with the Good Neighbour Scheme. An optimistic start….from little acorns and all that….
