Teignbridge Council has invited SWW to make a presentation to an O n S Committee on November 15th ( public can view via councils web page) We are concerned about bathing water quality and the ongoing discharge of sewage into our local water streams.
Councilors are asked to submit questions prior to the meeting.
I have today submitted the following and it will be interesting to see how it is answered,
“A recent report found that SWW had an average 26% profit margin over the last 10 years. In 2020 there were over 400,000 discharges of untreated sewage into English waters, with the UK ranked as last in Europe for bathing water quality.
Since privatisation billions have been made for shareholders, and more has been provided by way of dividends than has been invested in infrastructure improvements.
How can this state of affairs be justified?”
