I had a lengthy phone conversation this afternoon with Alison Hernandez (PCC) and the Chief Constable ( via Team Devon)
Obviously I brought up local concerns re policing and the travelers in Decoy Park were certainly on the agenda. It was encouraging to know they were both aware of that particular problem.
I have been promised some short term help for the holiday season, including Street Marshalls for Newton Abbot; extra CCTV and a general raising of the police profile. In addition police leave for the Bank Holidays has been cancelled.
All this is potentially good news for Newton Abbot. We now need to see promises put into operation just as soon as practical, and certainly in time for the advent of the holiday season which is due to start this week end.
