In the current edition is, amongst other articles, a most interesting feature re Beavers, and the huge contribution they make to biodiversity.
As many will be aware I’m sure the beaver has been reintroduced to the River Otter, and the government are considering extending the process. The beaver was hunted to extinction more than 400 years ago, but is now being actively considered for a more widespread return to our rivers and wetlands nationwide.
The government has started a consultation on the topic and if you would like to express an opinion, please do. However, it is simply not an easy process (please don’t let that put you off) Visit devonwildlife trust.org for the easiest way in. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 17 November, so don’t hang about!
