Serious Errors of Fact in todays MDA

by admin on 20 October, 2022

Two separate articles on page 13 of today’s MDA contain serious errors of fact and need to be corrected in the interests of openness and honesty.
In an article about saving the Alex (we do seem to be getting articles on this topic very frequently) a claim is repeated time and again about, ” the proposed demolition of the grade 2 listed theatre”. No such plans were ever made and the author of the article knows that full well, but hey why let truth get in the way of a quasi political campaign? Rabble rousing in the very best traditions of NSN. The distortion of reality is repeated throughout the article and brings no credit on the Newton Says No councillor responsible.
In the other article on page 13 from the Newton Abbot Civic Society erroneous claims are made about the number of social rent houses proposed for the redeveloped Bradley Lane site. ( for the record, the actual figure is 40 out of 90 ie 44%…highly commendable) I don’t know if these claims are deliberate and intended to mislead or simply a failure to research the facts, but whichever it would be good to think that the authors of these disingenuous articles would have the decency to correct the errors…but don’t hold your breath.
