At the Teignbridge Full Council meeting earlier this week I asked the following question of the Leader ( Alan Connett), ” Can the Leader clarify if there are or indeed ever have been any plans to demolish the Alexandra Cinema?”
Alan stated quite clearly that there have not been any such plans.

The clarification was sought because the Newton Says No group on the council continue to mislead the general public regarding the future of the Alex. It was good therefore to be able to get absolute clarity….There are no plans, nor have there ever been any plans, to demolish the Alex. It is a listed building; it would need planning consent; there are no plans to demolish this building.

I have spoken to some residents who believe otherwise, simply because they heard or read what these councillors claimed…it’s good to clearly establish that it is a false claim.
