As long as I have been involved in local politics there seems to have been a housing crisis; there is certainly one right now. Indeed, it was one of my early experiences helping in the Hove by election of 1973 that convinced me we were failing then, and we are failing now, to resolve this mega problem.
Shelter say that every 4 minutes in the UK someone becomes homeless. This a human tragedy, and is seen in all parts of the country.
We need to build more houses (of the right type) to correct this grotesque hardship which so many experience.
